This project was a two-bedroom residential apartment unit with a very small area and a patio in the center. The patio that divided the project into two halves. And next to it there was a corridor (to connect the rooms to the living room and kitchen), which was practically an unused space. In front of the kitchen, there was a balcony that had a triangular shape. A balcony that, despite being small, had a very good view of the park in front of the building
In the design process, the most important point was to maximize the practical use of the unit. For this purpose, the kitchen and living room were integrated. And the separation of these two spaces was done only through the difference in the material of the roof. Finally, the kitchen was used not as a separate space, but as a complement to the living space.
Since the corner of the balcony could not be used and this space was triangular, a flower box was placed in the corner of the balcony and a small table was added next to it. Therefore, it made the residents use the balcony in the best way
The kitchen counter divides the small space of the residential unit into two parts.
Like a wall that cannot be seen
The kitchen space was an imaginary cube (subjective) We converted it to a real cubic volume. (objective).
Given the small size of the living room and the kitchen, we turned them into one volume: a cube that was once the kitchen, but now one side of it has been opened and moved towards the living room.
By hiding the refrigerator and other kitchen appliances, we tried to emphasize the purity of the space and make it unify.
We used the almost unused space of the corridor as a storage and laundry room
We put a flower box in the corner of the balcony and created a green space.
In front of these green plants, we put a counter: the tea table in the balcony
