Design Process
Our challenge in designing this project was to create a building that retains the values of Iranian architecture while also meeting contemporary architectural standards. We aimed to achieve an economical design with a distinctive form.
The overall concept was to create a building with a strong connection to the city and its surroundings, evoking the idea of stacked cubes—like bricks forming a building, like Legos a child uses to construct, or stones stacked in ancient times to create shelter, representing the basis of ancient engineering.
Situated between two mountain ranges, the architectural features of these ranges are reflected in the design, considering the skyline and surrounding buildings.
Given the historical significance of Lorestan province and its various historical structures, we were inspired by the architectural motifs of these buildings, particularly the patterns and designs from Emamzadeh Jafar.
In designing this project, we accounted for the different angles and light throughout the year, and to avoid shadows from surrounding buildings, we recessed certain parts of the volume.
To optimize sunlight usage and prevent direct light from disturbing the occupants, we employed a brick lattice layer. The building's structural stresses are symmetrically balanced to manage lateral forces.
