  • About the Project:

In Guilan, Iran, facade design is often seen as simply selecting various materials and applying them to the building’s exterior. However, it's much more than that; the placement of windows, balconies, and other elements is crucial, and much of the facade design is established during the planning stages.

For this project, we were brought in after the windows and many parts of the building were already executed. The corner of the building featured a balcony behind the kitchen, which was underutilized. Despite being a potential focal point, it lacked windows and had only a door.

Given the completed structural elements, we focused on enhancing the appearance of the windows and adding planters to improve the view and play with the balcony’s volume. This was the most feasible intervention, considering the building's existing structure.

Located in a moderately priced neighborhood, cost control was vital, so we recommended using brick.

A small, short shop at the parking corner was originally designated as a storage room in the plans. By unifying the ground floor with the shop in terms of material and color, and creating a black-and-white contrast, we aimed to visually enlarge the shop and integrate it with the ground floor.
